he...hey foodgal, you're right. i was very lucky!

hey leng, yes, it's really that cheap. you should go check out the market sometime. the basil actually smelled and tasted like the short variety i'm used to. it was just on a long stalk (stem?). if i see it again at the market, i'll ask the farmer and i'll let you know.tengo hambrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02036914685020258881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1223224116216954497.post-75104043462541975022009-05-13T15:34:00.000-07:002009-05-13T15:34:00.000-07:00Hi! I linked your blog from your FoodBuzz profile....Hi! I linked your blog from your FoodBuzz profile. To answer your question about the basil. I don't think that it's basil at all. It's sort of hard for me to tell because I can't see the leaves close enough. If I am correct if you taste it raw, it should taste peppery with hints of lemon. It's sometimes called Vietnamese Mint. You can use it in dishes like Banh Cheo (I just ate Banh Cheo yesterday), you could also use it in spring rolls.

I've never been to Farmer's market in Oakland before, it is that cheap?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1223224116216954497.post-22209073802003515962009-05-13T12:04:00.000-07:002009-05-13T12:04:00.000-07:00Wow, those tomatoes look mighty fine for so early ...Wow, those tomatoes look mighty fine for so early in the season.
